Annually produces a timely digest of real and personal property, that is both uniform and reflective of fair market value, in compliance with the laws of Georgia which include the following duties:
- Maintain current ownership records and maps
- Review and qualify all sales of properties within Schley County
- Make assessments of all property that maintain uniformity and are reflective of fair market value in accordance with OCGA 48-5-2
- Receive and review annual property owner returns
- Provide and process annual personal property returns
- Mail annual Notices of Assessments
- Receive, review and process annual appeals
- Receive and review applications for exemptions which are approved by the Schley County Board of Assessors
- Provide data as needed for Schley County property owners, the Georgia Department of Revenue and the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts
- Assist the Tax Commissioner with the annual submission of the Tax Digest
