The County Clerk coordinates and provides support to the County Manager and the County Commissioners
- Oversees the preparation and distribution of meeting agendas, attends Board of Commissioner meetings, transcribes minutes for approval, records minutes in minutes book, and advertises public meetings
- Responds to open records request from the general public, other departments and government agencies
- Maintains county records in accordance with state retention schedules
- Assists County Manager with budget preparation
- Facilitates paperwork for new hires, terminations, insurance, payroll and accounts payable
- Maintains and updates the county website: adds, removes and updates information
- Prepares correspondence, proclamations, ordinances, and letters

The Deputy County Clerk provides support to the County Manager and the County Clerk
- Assists with preparation for Commission meetings
- Researches and locates documentation and information for internal and external customers
- Handles all accounts receivables
- Assists with payroll on a weekly basis
- Monitors and updates all vacation and sick time for employees
- Answers internal phone calls and handle or transfer as needed
- Assists utilities clerk to process water and sanitation payments

About Schley County
Schley County was created by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on December 22, 1857. Named for William Schley the area is located in the Southwestern part of the State. The current population is approximately 5,000 and the major industry is agriculture.
