Schley County was created by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on December 22, 1857. Named for William Schley the area is located in the Southwestern part of the State. The current population is approximately 5,000 and the major industry is agriculture.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Schley County Board of Commissioners will hold a meeting, September 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room located at the Renovated Courthouse 14 S. Broad Street, Ellaville, GA.

The purpose of this meeting is to adopt the Millage Rate for fiscal year 2021-2022.  The meeting is open to the public.
